Volvo 60 Libertalia

Libertalia is a Volvo 60, 19.50m racing yacht with professional crew. This VOR60 was designed and built to race the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-02, the crewed round the world race. Hired under the name of Djuice Dragons, he was skippered by Knut Frostad, with Thomas Coville as Watch Leader and Jean-Yves Bernot as Navigator.

This racing yacht is an extreme boat, a Formula 1 of the seas with very spartan comfort. This demanding and powerful unit is now aligned on offshore races, in IRC 0 measurement rule (Rolex Fastnet Race, Armen Race, Tour de Belle Ile, Rolex Middle Sea Race, Voiles de Saint-Tropez, Transat, etc.).

Libertalia, crewed Volvo 60

Extremely marine and swift, this large 65-foot monohull is built for offshore sailing. Skippered by four professional sailors, Libertalia takes up to 10 crew mates at offshore racing. During day charter, it can accommodate 12 team members. For sleeping and catering on board, that’s the union minimum: 14 bunks, a gas stove and a toilet! The navigation station is located aft, below the cockpit.
On deck, double helm station and double winch columns for the grinders! Hydraulics and ballasts complete the power on board.
Rigged as a sloop with carbon mast, the Volvo 60 has a large and varied wardrobe! Up front, you will be spoiled for choice: staysail, J1, J2, genoa, large genoa, asymmetric spinnaker, symmetrical spinnaker. The mainsail is “full batten” with a membrane fabric
