Offshore sailing course from South Brittany to the Canary islands with an 8 to 10 days boarding. Program for this offshore navigation onboard a crewed Volvo 60, the Bay of Biscay, then along Portugal to reach the Canary archipelago. With a departure from Lorient and an arrival in Lanzarote, this stopover is the end of the first leg crossing the Atlantic before the start of the RORC Transatlantic Race in which we are participating.
1300 nautical miles of deep sea navigation
As part of the participation of Libertalia, our crewed Volvo 60, in the RORC Transatlantic Race, the first leg takes place from Lorient to reach Lanzarote, the eastern most island of the Canary archipelago. A participatory and committed offshore course to discover offshore navigation aboard a racing sailboat, with a first part of the Atlantic crossing. Committing as a teammate aboard Libertalia, whatever your level, is not trivial. It is a performing and extreme racing sailboat. It is a demanding and powerful unit, a Formula 1 of the seas with very spartan comfort.
Committed crew member aboard a Volvo 60
The first part of this offshore sailing course from Brittany to Canary Islands will take you to Cape Finisterre crossing the Bay of Biscay. We will then find the best route to reach the Canary Islands, either along the Portuguese coast or further offshore depending on the weather conditions.
